Anniversary in Carmel

Garner and I celebrated our 1-year wedding anniversary in Carmel-by-the-sea, California. Carmel is a quaint town right by the ocean that’s home (or vacation home) to many celebrities and wealthy businessmen/women. It’s quiet yet filled with delicious restaurants, boutiques and activities.

We stayed in an amazing Airbnb on a massive ranch. You could see the ocean past the trees, play on the tennis courts and of course we barbecued out on the pit.

For our full day in Carmel, we went on a food/wine walking tour recommended by our friend Rakhee. There were 7 (!) stops on the walking tour - each which had a small bite and drink, sometimes coffee and sometimes a margarita. All were fantastic! Garner even tried fried crickets. Then we walked around downtown, shopped, went to the beach and enjoyed a sunny weekend together just us.

For Sunday brunch we visited Mission Ranch - a hotel/restaurant created by Clint Eastwood. Apparently the gorgeous seaside ranch was going to become high-rise condos, so Clint bought the property, restored it to it’s prior dairy farm glory days, and made it a place everyone can visit. The brunch was delicious and the grounds were beautiful.

We loved our short weekend getaway and can’t wait to return soon! Cheers to one year of marriage!
